From the start, the brief for Aintree was clear: deliver a high-performing home with minimal impact and maximum control. The clients were focused, informed, and committed, and we worked closely with them to align every detail with those values.
This client wanted more than a comfortable home; they wanted to minimise impact. They were focused on building responsibly, reducing embodied carbon without compromising on comfort. We worked closely with Gruen Eco Design to deliver a Certified Passive House.
This 1940s brick veneer home belonged to a young family who wanted comfort, clean air, and long-term performance. We retained the charm of the original façade while reworking the internal layout, adding a new first floor, and rebuilding the envelope to Passive House standards.
Much of the existing fabric was retained, while performance was improved through selective upgrades to windows, insulation, and layout. Reclaimed objects were given new purpose, including bed cradles reclaimed as pantry drawers and a concrete hub cast on site for the bathroom.
The original façade was retained, while a new extension and first-floor addition restructured the rear of the block. Living areas are now arranged around a central courtyard, with full-height glazing and sliding doors drawing in natural light and ventilation.
